Tree Safety Survey
Date published: 30 March, 2015
This is to undertake a survey of all high risk areas of woodland, especially those that experience high visitor numbers. The details of the area to be surveyed and the justification of need should be provided and agreed with Forestry Commission Scotland in advance. The survey must be undertaken by a suitably qualified arborist or forester. This capital item is only eligible once per management unit.
Survey all semi-mature and mature trees within falling distance of paths, roads or boundaries and assess the trees in terms of condition, health and risk to the public.
Identify trees for removal, pruning, crown cleaning, and other treatments as may be required. Mark trees identified for treatment.
You must provide a report detailing the condition of each tree and a map showing the locations. Trees should be numbered for identification purposes.
