Water Trough Pump – Cattle Operation Pasture or Nose Pump

This capital item is only eligible where the application also contains the Sustainable Management of Forests – Woodland Grazing option and the installation meets the objectives of the option as detailed in your Woodland Grazing Plan. Your submitted application and map must clearly identify which type of water trough you are applying for and where they will be positioned. The location of the pump must be clearly identified on your application map.
The pump shall be designed to allow the animal to use its nose to push a lever that pumps water into a small water bowl or reservoir. The pump should normally be of cast iron with a low wear level mechanism. The connection and valve are to be of a non-corrosive material. A metal splash pan can be positioned under the reservoir to catch spillage. The pumps should be anchored securely to prevent movement.
We require this item to be in place, meeting minimum specifications and in good working order for a period of at least five years following the date you received your payment.
